Can shoes cause back pain?

It doesn%26#039;t happen with all shoes (i.e. never with high heels). But with some shoes, especially with hiking boots, the pain shoots up from my right leg upto my spine. This happens within two days of wearing the shoes and doesn%26#039;t go away for months at a time..

any suggestions?? Ofcourse i can stop wearing hiking shoes, but then i risk straining my ankles...

Can shoes cause back pain?
You may%26#039;ve damaged your feet by wearing high heels too much.

It seems your feet are%26#039;nt used to proper positioning.

See a Podiatrist. (foot doctor)
Reply:yes
Reply:yes especially high heels
Reply:Yes, if the fit isn%26#039;t just right, or something specific in the ankle support of your hiking boots might just be pressing on a nerve or something. Best suggestion is to see a podiatrist.
Reply:Shoes can cause back pain. If the shoe has no heel support, it may lead to back problems.
Reply:I wear hiking shoes too, but they dont bother me. It is probably that you slope ur back and dont sit up strait. I would see a chiropractor.

When I had a similar pain it was because of swelling by a nerve after surgery. I would recommend seeing a Dr. as the pain may actually be caused by a back problem even though it seems to originate in your foot. Sounds more like a nerve problem or the particular shoes your wearing is pressing on a nerve.
Reply:You can buy these little rubber thingies that go inside your shoes. My friend ended up with a serious shoulder problem all due to her feet. Her physiotherapist suggested these rubber thingies and she is fine now, no back or shoulder pain. Will be able to get them from any good orthopaedic shop.
