Am i supposed to wear timberland's while hiking?

like timberland boots? are those hiking shoes?

Am i supposed to wear timberland%26#039;s while hiking?
You don%26#039;t have to specifically wear timberlands, but you better wear a good, sturdy, supportive shoe. A boot if you%26#039;re going into rough terrain or having to wade through water or something like that. If you%26#039;re hiking in a wooded area, long sleeves and long pants are a must as well, to protect skin from scratches, as well as bugs.
Reply:I believe that was the original intent. How a hiking boot becomes fashionable or stylish outside of Boulder, CO alludes me? But then again why would anyone wear Crocs anywhere else other than the ready line in a restaurant or garden. What next? Diamond encrusted jockstraps on the red carpet at the Oscars? Jeesh.
Reply:i think so
Reply:You can if you want to. just try to walk around alot in them before you do to make sure they won%26#039;t kill your feet.

How can i prevent getting blisters on my toes while hiking?

im no amature but a common problem is that i get blisters on my feet when i hike. im going on a 2 week trip to the desert and i got a new pair of hiking shoes some of the best around but i still cant stop the blisters how can i prevent this

How can i prevent getting blisters on my toes while hiking?
why dont you try putting a bandage/band-aid around your toes, or use talcum powder in your shoes for lubrication.
Reply:Each person%26#039;s feet are unique and you may not have the correct pair of shoes. You should put a few miles on your shoes to make certain they fit before any long trips. Duct tape works great for hot spots, but once a blister develops you have a potential for infection. At minimum, bring a sterile pin to drain blisters, and Neosporin to prevent infection.
Reply:2pairs of socks/ well broken in pair of boots
Reply:blister block by band aid brand
Reply:You should never wear new boots when you are hiking!! It is what causes blisters because the material needs to be softened up. Try wearing long thick socks, while you break in your boots!
Reply:I have used mole skin for years on the problem areas. I stick it on before I go and I do okey dokey now. You can buy it at any drug store in the feet department!
Reply:get more comfortable shoes and new socks.
Reply:Band-aids on the spots that rub. Friction causes blisters. So does moisture. Invest in some foot powder or some baby powder. Anything that will keep your feet dry. Sprinkle some in your socks. It helped me a lot. So band-aids where friction occurs, and powder to absorb moisture.
Reply:change your socks often so they stay dry.. you could also get a special kind of tape or use duct tape or moleskin to wrap around your toes to reduce friction
Reply:wear good hiking boots, thick socks.....^^

Should i bring water shoes?

I heard that it rains quite often in Ireland. Should I bring water shoes? I mean the type that look like regular shoes but have different traction on the bottom and have drainage holes in the bottom.... I was going to take hiking shoes too.... are both types a good idea? I plan on going on foot to shoot lots of pictures. I need something that will be comfortable to walk in but also be prepared for the weather.

Should i bring water shoes?
Water shoes will not be comfortable if you walk very much in them - only a good idea if you plan to actually be treading in high water the majority of the day. I

wear them on our annual river trip, only because my feet stay submerged in the water for most of the time %26amp; if I need to be walking its rarely and the watershoes are there just so my feet don%26#039;t get cut on any rocks.

If I were you, I%26#039;d take the most comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots (or both) you own. Water proof them with some Scotch waterproofing spray.... if they do get wet during a days adventure, try to dry them as much as possible when you get back to your hotel.

Take care keeping your feet dry....and you will enjoy your vacation so much more!!

PS - I asked a friend who went to Ireland in March and she said - go with COMFORTABLE SHOES. They took a lot of walking adventures themselves only had to use the hotels drying one night to get their shoes dried before the next day.

What are the most comfortable shoes?

I am having real problems finding comfortable men%26#039;s shoes. Almost every kind I get make my feet badly sweat! Is there something wrong with my feet? I tried footsoles too. Ideally I would like them black or dark brown leather or even canvas. Casual, walking and / or dress. I dont want black Converse though. At work I have to wear sandals or slippers to keep my feet from sweating. Even my Solomon mesh water shoes make my feet sweat! I dont want the plastic molded shoe sole like so many use now either. I have a pair of hiking shoes with the molded foot and after a mile or so they actually make my right ankle start hurting so bad I can hardly even walk!

What are the most comfortable shoes?
Try moccasins. The most comfortable shoes I have and /or have ever owned are wallabees clark moccasins. They were designed by the native americans. Incredibly comfortable. I will post a link of what they look like.
Reply:There is only one shoe that is the most comfortable yet not maybe the best looking.

Crocs...

I have had a pair for a year now, wear them on the beach, when I go out casually, walking on mountain paths.
Reply:First answer is right.

Walk a mile in his moccasins.
Reply:try new balance shoes.
Reply:Born shoes. Very comfortable soft leather.

Suede shoes?

i know water and all is bad for suede, but all hiking shoes seem to have suede on them. and hiking shoes are meant to be used outside, right? so can%26#039;t it be assumed that they will be exposed to the elements? will they really go bad if they get wet?

Suede shoes?
There is a stain/water repellant that you can buy in shoe stores that are for suede and it works great and your shoes will last longer and look newer

Blisters from uneven ground - is it my tennis shoes or just my feet?

Every time I wear tennis shoes on uneven ground and walk for a while, I get blisters. This happens when I%26#039;m hiking or walking around at a camp site. My question is, will hiking shoes/boots fix the problem? Or is it that my shoes are a bit too loose? Or is there some conditioning problem with my feet?

I suspected I needed hiking boots at first, but I know someone who hikes mountains in flip-flops and she seems to do OK.

Blisters from uneven ground - is it my tennis shoes or just my feet?
3 things cause blisters. Heat, Friction and Moisture. Eliminate one of those, and you won%26#039;t have blisters.

Chances are your tennis shoes are too loose, maybe too large and when walking on uneven ground your foot slides around in them causing blisters.

Try getting a sneaker that fits a little tighter, and as far as hiking shoes go; I suggest Merrell Chamelon%26#039;s.
Reply:Try wearing a thin pair of cotton socks under a thicker pair. This reduces the friction on your skin. Make sure you powder your feet regularly to keep them dry. Hiking boots are better than tennis shoes if you are walking long distances.

Squeeky Shoes?

I work in a hospital with all tile floors and my guy friend here has some new shoes. They aren%26#039;t the tennis shoe type, more like dress shoes. They are like black dress shoes but with a good sole, like hiking shoes. I know that sketchers makes a pair like what I am talking about. Is there anything to do to the shoes that will make them not squeek or atleast sound a little better? It sounds like he is constantly walking in and out of water. Thanks for the help!

Squeeky Shoes?
OIL them. They sell special oils for shoes like that, so dont worry! Hope I helped =]]
Reply:squeaks go away eventually as you wear out the shoe. just give it time.
Reply:if he has squeaky shoes simply tell him so,if he your real friend he wont mined.
Reply:Spray some Hairspray on the bottom. new shoes squeak a lot. hairspray helps.
Reply:Dust or flour

Keep you shoes from grabbing the waxy floor.
Reply:Try waiting until they get a little worn out.A lot of NEW shoes squeak but once they get worn out the usually lose their squeakiness.

Can shoes cause back pain?

It doesn%26#039;t happen with all shoes (i.e. never with high heels). But with some shoes, especially with hiking boots, the pain shoots up from my right leg upto my spine. This happens within two days of wearing the shoes and doesn%26#039;t go away for months at a time..

any suggestions?? Ofcourse i can stop wearing hiking shoes, but then i risk straining my ankles...

Can shoes cause back pain?
You may%26#039;ve damaged your feet by wearing high heels too much.

It seems your feet are%26#039;nt used to proper positioning.

See a Podiatrist. (foot doctor)
Reply:yes
Reply:yes especially high heels
Reply:Yes, if the fit isn%26#039;t just right, or something specific in the ankle support of your hiking boots might just be pressing on a nerve or something. Best suggestion is to see a podiatrist.
Reply:Shoes can cause back pain. If the shoe has no heel support, it may lead to back problems.
Reply:I wear hiking shoes too, but they dont bother me. It is probably that you slope ur back and dont sit up strait. I would see a chiropractor.

Check out Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome on www.webmd.com

When I had a similar pain it was because of swelling by a nerve after surgery. I would recommend seeing a Dr. as the pain may actually be caused by a back problem even though it seems to originate in your foot. Sounds more like a nerve problem or the particular shoes your wearing is pressing on a nerve.
Reply:You can buy these little rubber thingies that go inside your shoes. My friend ended up with a serious shoulder problem all due to her feet. Her physiotherapist suggested these rubber thingies and she is fine now, no back or shoulder pain. Will be able to get them from any good orthopaedic shop.
